our approach
At SociallyWize. we believe that there is more than one way to guide an individual on how to be a competent social problem solver. Social skills and social interactions with peers encompass communication, flexibility, appreciating feelings, and perspective-taking; all part of what we refer to as dynamic thinking and intelligence. Therefore, we dynamically use different evidence-based approaches into one systematic model to support the whole child/adult.
The SociallyWize approach is based on research of typical and neurodivergent children and adults. We model and support individuals as they develop both socially and emotionally. We build these skills from internal motivation and praise, rather than external reinforcement. We initially build their trust with a trained educator and then begin to support their enjoyment of developmentally matched peers. As they begin to enjoy the process of play and/or engagement, their motivation and feeling of….confidence begin to grow! The ultimate goal for any individual especially those who might have social challenges to find JOY in their play and engagement with others.
SociallyWize incorporates many different clinically effective and evidence-based treatment modalities to support the WHOLE individual. “Wize Talk Time,” Social Thinking – We Thinkers, Zones of Regulation, Yoga, Mindfulness, and Sensory Integration, to name a few.
At SociallyWize, we believe that all children and young adults shine in their own individual ways. All individuals begin their journey at SociallyWize, with an individual (play-based for children) and (interview-style for young adults) evaluation to better understand his/her history of development, personal strengths, areas of improvement, and fit within our program.
